Anna Grace Brock

This is Anna Grace Brock. Anna Grace is FUN– she’s a great dancer and her laugh lights up a room. But AG is also real! She listens, she is supportive of her people, and she is wise in pursuit of the Lord!

Transitioning from living at home to college I’ve learned a lot about myself including more things that I’m interested in, who I am as a person, and even the things that a struggle with. One of those things that I have found hard to deal with is comparison. More specifically, what it does to you and how to overcome it.

Comparison is challenging because it creeps into our minds without us knowing and if you let it, comparison can eventually consume your mind causing the spirit of anxiety and depression to enter your life. This one negative thought can steal your contentment, that’s kinda crazy if you think about it! If we’re not careful, comparison can also be deceitful by getting us to delight in the misfortune of others. To stop that from happening, there are several things to remind yourself that God created you to run your own race. Even when you have friends that act similar to you, or share the same interests, they have a different race they have to run, so don’t compare yourself to people your close to! Here are several easy things that I do to keep myself from the thoughts of comparison that I’ve learned from others:

1. There is no win in comparison

2. You and your brothers and sisters in Christ are all on the same team! So cheer them on and celebrate their victories that better God’s kingdom. Don’t tear yourself down for not experiencing that yourself!

3. Use the verse Romans 12:6 as a prayer when jealousy creeps into your mind

4. Gratitude!!!!! Thank God for everything in your life works and gets you out of that mindset!
