This is Katie Pitner. Katie is a kind, wise, and honest friend. She loves in a way that leaves room for people to be themselves, and I appreciate that about her. She’s also so fun and funny and makes everyone around her feel heard.
Something the Lord has been reminding me of lately is this quote: “We don’t become more spiritual by becoming less human.” I haven’t been feeling super myself lately, and the enemy has definitely been trying to trick me into believing this wandering feeling is because I’m missing something; that I’m feeling a bit tossed around because I’m not doing enough, or because God is withholding until I get everything right. But God has been revealing through it all that bringing my whole heart up to the surface is all He wants. So this is what I’ve been learning, and I hope it’s encouraging for anyone who needs to hear it: Muster the courage to bring your whole self up to the table every day: every part of you that you’ve tried to bury down because you’ve been told it wasn’t good enough, wasn’t neat enough, wasn’t enough enough. Bring all you are and allow yourself to be impacted by the people, places, and experiences around you, by all the beauty that is here if we only have the eyes to see it. Allow yourself to be seen and known by those who will nurture your most vulnerable spots. There is no limit to your growth if you are committed to exposing your whole self to the light with bravery and stubborn hope. Each time will see varying levels of success, and maybe sometimes the best you can do is to dust yourself off to try again the next day; but you will always leave one step closer to flourishing.
