This is Anna Goellner. Anna is a lover of joy and stickers and other fun things. She cares deeply for her friends and would do almost anything for them. I’m so lucky to get to watch her live and love her people.
This past year, God has really been teaching me how to be gentle with myself. Far too often I push myself much farther than I need to go, not knowing how to set any boundaries. God is revealing to me that I truly cannot pour out of an empty cup, and I need to fill myself up with His love before I can even begin to pour myself out to others. He has taught me to appreciate the smaller things about myself and how I think about the world, highlighting the joys I find in friendship. God speaks to me through my friends! By loving others and being loved we are given a small snippet of the truly magnificent way god cares for us. However, God also calls us to love ourselves. We are His creation, crafted delicately by His hand, and we are meant to not only love others, but to love who we are and who God called us to be. There’s a wonderful beauty in appreciating yourself and giving yourself a break every now and then – God calls us to be people lovers, not people pleasers!
