Lauren Ethridge

This is Lauren Ethridge. Lauren is brilliant, a hard worker, and a passionate pursuer of Christ. I am so lucky to learn from her and be in her joyful presence.

I’ll be honest, during this crazy season I haven’t used this time wisely and productively. I came into it having had a semester abroad cut short but learning to be grateful for the time I did have. As the days passed, I started to seek God in ways I hadn’t in a long time. I started reading, The Heist, by Chris Durso. I knew God was trying to reveal something about myself. The theme of the book was how God robbed us of our shame when he sent Jesus to die on that cross, but used the Prodigal Son parable as a demonstrator. In the parable, the son leaves and squanders all his inheritance but he felt all this guilt and shame that kept him from returning home for so long. The day that he decided to go home, his Father was there with arms wide open and ready to celebrate. It reminded me that I repentance and grace are all that I need but ultimately, I need to accept the grace that God has given me and give grace to myself. It reminded me that there is no limit to coming home to our God no matter what I’ve done or how far I’ve strayed. God sees you in perfect light and is waiting to celebrate when you draw near to him again and come home.
