In my readings lately, there has been such a great emphasis on sexual immorality and purity. One for example: Colossians 3:5 “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and courteousness, which is idolatry.” I have a sexual history that I did not choose. And that was really hard for me for a long time. I thought I couldn’t deserve the love of an amazing Christian boy because I was used. But something that was pointed out to me is the Bible doesn’t say “virginity,” it says “purity.” Virginity is the state of your hymen, whereas purity is the position of your heart and soul. When you accept Jesus and daily ask for forgiveness, “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).  So God does not ask that you have a perfect sexual history your entire life up to your marriage, and if not, then you are a used, dirty rag that deserves to die in a hole. NO! If you have any shame or condemnation in your sexual history, chosen or not, that is from the devil. The endless, bountiful, reckless love of God doesn’t end if your hymen breaks before marriage. TRUST ME. And God does have that amazing person you’ve always wanted to marry for you. God will give him the heart and compassion towards you and will love you all the more because of it. So for anyone that has a sexual past, ask for forgiveness, position your heart in a state of purity (that is both mentally and physically), and declare that from now on, you will live in this way. God really does love you, and nothing you say or do or have happen to you will ever change that or change the life you want for yourself or the life that God has for you.
