Drew Philo

Drew is one of my favorite people to be around. He has an innate ability to make everyone he’s with feel so comfortable being themselves, it is evident he genuinely wants to get to know those around him, and he is the epitome of ‘the first will be last and the last will be first’ in so many lives. Drew beautifully lives out God’s command on his life, and he sees others exactly as they are.

Life honestly can fly by. So many times I’ve felt like life was kind of just happening to me. It has felt like a blur, and it’s hard to make the most of every moment. It always feels like there’s something more pressing that needs to be taken care of or be done. John Mark Comer describes this as ‘hurry’ in his newest book, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. This feeling has been too real for me and my life. I’ve felt it for a while, but John Mark Comer so perfectly articulated what I’ve been feeling. After reading this book, I’ve decided that I don’t want to feel this way anymore. I want to live life and not just let it happen to me. I want to make the most of every moment, and the best way I’ve learned to do this is to just be still. It’s so very simple yet so very difficult to do in today’s world. It’s so important! It’s biblical. John Mark Comer says that it’s a time to ‘allow your soul to catch up with your body.’ Although I’ve already seen it have an impact on my life and have been feeling the presence of the Lord more than ever, I still have a long way to go. I’m excited to continue to learn but am so thankful for the stillness of the past few weeks of my life.
