Daniel Salyers

Some of my favorite college memories have been spent with this one. Daniel is full of many ideas and endless amounts of fun, but he is also wise and sees God’s character so clearly. He is insanely talented, but he does it all for the glory of God. He brings joy and laughter out of everyone he is around, and it is such a gift to know him!

“Recently, God has been showing me a certain beauty that lies in the idea of stillness. Something that is really cool about the current chaos of our world is the fact that people are forced to be still. I’ve found that as humans, our brains are naturally drawn to anything that can evoke our attention. Before the pandemic hit, our world was in a constant motion. It’s very, very difficult to be still in a moving world, but it seems as though our world has stopped for right now. I think this has the potential to teach everyone something new. Something good. I think God wants us to be still because being in a state of stillness is a state where we can fully understand gratitude. I’ve found myself overjoyed in this time of quarantine because I’ve begun to see what God has already done, and is currently doing in my life. I find it crazy that it took a worldwide pandemic for me to just think backwards instead of forwards for a few minutes. Sadly, thinking forwards is what I (and I’m sure most people) get caught up in on an ordinary, non-pandemic day. I think it’s hard for us to fully appreciate what we already have when we aren’t still in the presence of the Lord. So what does it mean to be still? It means to let go of the controls. It means to let go of the plans. It means to let go of the fear. The Lord is so so good. If you sit still for a moment, you might just see why.

‘Hear this, O Job; stop and consider the wondrous works of God’ – Job 37:14.”
