Skylar Barth

Sky was a friendcrush for me at the beginning of this year, and now we’re living together in a few months – what a transition! Skylar has such a comforting presence that immediately invites in everyone she meets. She is encouraging and trustworthy, and she brings out the most authentic side of those she is with. She sees the best in people, she gives the best advice, and she is a hype woman for life.

During this season, feelings and thoughts are running rampant. It feels as if nothing is certain and everything is tentative. Life flipped upside down, and it is hard to find a consistency through this incredible change. A month ago, I was meeting 75 new people, getting ready to go on a mission trip that would change lives. I was so excited to love on others and to build community. Now, that community built has been separated, indefinitely. Today was supposed to be G-Day, a day where the bulldawg nation meets, free of charge, to cheer on the Georgia football team. Instead, all football operations have been stopped. In a season where “nothing is the same,” it has been on my heart to look towards the one thing that never changes, the truth of the written word. Although life is different, God still knows your name, Isaiah 43:1. Although you live in a different place, your God still goes before you, Isaiah 42:12. Although you feel like you can’t handle this much longer, Christ will still strengthen you, Philippians 4:13. Although you fear this virus, our present sufferings are still not worth comparing to the glory revealed, Romans 8:18. Although you may feel defeated right now, still no weapon against you will prevail, Isaiah 54:17. Although you do not feel as spiritual in this season, God still testifies with your spirit that you are his child, Romans 8:16. And although we didn’t get to go to church on Easter Sunday, Jesus is still risen, risen indeed. In this ever changing world, look to the truth of the word, for it remains.
