Eliza Ashby

Eliza was one of the first people I felt like I needed to get to know at the beginning of this year. Eliza makes me feel loved in a unique and valuable way that I am constantly thankful for. She is wise and real, and she has such a lighthearted view on life that always leaves me laughing. Eliza specifically stands out in my mind as someone who always turns the questions I ask her back on me: her desire to get to know my heart in return always makes me feel so loved.

Recently God has been telling me in this time of chaos and uncertainty that He is in control. No matter what. When we feel like this is crazy and not part of the plan, God is not surprised. It may not have been my plan to end the school year so early but it was ALWAYS God’s plan. He has His hand over all this. He is not fearful or amazed. Psalm 91, verses 10-12, say ‘no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ These verses and just Psalm 91 in general have been a constant source of comfort and encouragement for me during this past week. I read it multiple times a day and whenever I feel anxious about the state of our world. God is in control and his plan is so much better than anything we could imagine.
