This is Josh Jones.
Josh constantly makes me laugh, but also constantly inspires me in how he seeks the Lord in all aspects of his life. Josh is the kind of guy that remembers little details about people and values every interaction he has with someone. He is also insanely talented and insanely wise, and both of those things are so evident through the words he sent me.
For a while now there have been numerous times throughout my week where I look at the clock and it is exactly 12:34. I didn’t think much about it at first, but after it kept happening I began to get curious. I eventually went through the bible to find any verse that had a chapter 12 and a verse 34. After reading through all of them, the only verse that wasn’t talking about random names of people, or how to sacrifice animals was Luke 12:34 which says “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” I didn’t think too much about it until I just kept looking at the clock at 12:34. Then it finally started to make sense to me when I noticed a pattern in when this would happen. It would always be when my mind was set on things of the world. I would be watching youtube and then would see the time. I would be thinking about a big test I had coming up, and then I would see the time. I would be obsessing over a task I had to do or an experience that I got to be a part of, and then I would see that time. God was reminding me that the reason my heart is not aligned with His like I would like it to be, is because my treasures are here on earth. Throughout this time, God has been showing me that until Jesus’ name being known is my only treasure above all earthly treasures, my heart will never be fully Christ’s. All that to say, we need to constantly be checking in on ourselves to see where our treasures and pleasures are. Are they in the things of the world, or the things of the kingdom?
